Bogged Incident
On July 3rd, 2024, ROWNIE, Mars, and overbooks attempted to clear a room in a Trial Chamber by melee combat. During one wave of mobs, an overwhelming amount of Bogged spawned in the chamber. For a few seconds, the amount of Bogged began increasing at an exponential rate, resulting in over one-hundred Bogged being present in the chamber.
Background
The server had recently been updated to the new 1.21 version, and ROWNIE had already obtained a Mace prior to this incident. Mars and overbooks wanted to join ROWNIE so he could show them how to clear Trial Chambers and unlock vaults within the chambers.
The three set off to a chamber in search of new music discs and Ominous Keys for a chance at getting a Heavy Core (Mace crafting ingredient). They dug into the Trial Chamber from a nearby cave.
Incident
After some waves of mobs, a glitched wave of Bogged entities spawned in and appeared to be duplicating for a few seconds. Based on existing footage and client logs, the Bogged may have duplicated 7 times within the short time frame, meaning that there were at least 27 = 128 Bogged in total.
The three players made little effort to try and clear the wave, and instead decided to flee the scene. They caved into a nearby wall and blocked off any line-of-sight with the Bogged army.
After recovering from the shock of the situation, the three players began to expose the barrier between them and the Bogged so they could clear the room. On his way out, ROWNIE fell into a 3-block-deep hole and was pursued by at least 40 Bogged, prompting him to disconnect from the server to save his life.
overbooks defended Mars using his bow as Mars moved towards the hole that ROWNIE fell into. Using a lava bucket in his inventory, Mars flooded the hole with lava, killing the mass of Bogged that were stuck inside. Once the lava drained, ROWNIE reconnected, and all three players were able to successfully overcome the remaining Bogged.
